Although Pastor Rev. Mlongecha was born in a strong Christian family and a child of a Pentecostal minister, he had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ at age twenty-six. Six months after this experience, he was baptized in both water and the Holy Ghost. Three years later he answered a call to serve the Lord. In 1990, he joined Bible College in Nairobi, Kenya and thereafter in USA.

Rev. Jared Mlongecha is the founding Pastor and vision leader of the International Gospel Church. He and his wife Gisele responded in obedience to a call from God to start International Gospel Church in the summer of 1998. The church was founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts with five members. At first the church met in a classroom at Harvard University. As the membership increased, it moved to a shared space with a church at 131 Chestnut Street in Chelsea.

Since then the church has moved to various locations. It once occupied the basement of another church at 149 Webster Avenue before it moved to the top floor of a Chelsea Neighborhood Housing Services building.

In 2005, the church moved to its current location at 85 Crescent Avenue, Chelsea, Massachusetts, 02150, USA.

Pastor Mlongecha and his wife have been happily married for eighteen years. They have three children. Their two sons are Ibocwa and Alembe. Masoka is their beloved daughter. Throughout their marriage and ministry, the Mlongecha family has seen the hand of the Lord not only saving and healing but also protecting them. In July of 200 a masked man invaded their home through a window and shot Gisele three times. One bullet destroyed her intestines and the other damaged her liver. One bullet passed through her body and exited on the other side. Gisele was taken to hospital with little hope of surviving. By God’s protective hand she is well and alive today - laboring joyously with her husband in the church ministry.
